My First Kitbash

Back in April 2025, when I had been back in the hobby for just a few months, I kitbashed an HO scale van into a railvan.

I took an HO scale minivan and mounted it on a cut down Kato 11-110 chassis. The idea was to make a railvan which had been converted from a regular vehicle. While most cars are too wide for a 30″ track, but (as the story goes) this was a kei van from Japan. Those things are often only about 4.5′ wide, so running it on a track 2.5′ wide is close enough that we can pretend it can be done.

In addition to cutting off the extra bits I don’t need, I also fogged the van’s windows using super glue. I then cut up bits of the van’s interior and glued them into place so that the Kato chassis didn’t slide into the van’s shell.

This was my first kitbash ever, and it really doesn’t suck, LOL.

And sorry for the bad video; I was still trying to figure out how to record a moving object at that time.
